Ive been on the mini pill for almost a year and have noticed that I have had brown discharge for the past few days. Now it is really heavy bleeding like I had before I was on birth control. Is it normal for me to suddenly have heavy bleeding?

Yes, that can be a normal side effect. Breakthrough bleeding can be anything from spotting to full on period bleeding, it’s all normal. Unless the bleeding is very heavy for a very long time then there’s no need to worry about it

Irregular bleeding is an unfortunate side effect. If you have a heavy bleed for 6-7 weeks straight I’d consider swapping pills or methods but discuss this with a doctor first
