Ibuprofen for breakthrough bleeding? I’ve been experiencing pretty heavy breakthrough bleeding, I started the pills 21 days ago. I planned to go onto the next pack, but the bleeding hasn’t stopped and it’s been 7 days. It started as light spotting and has been fluctuating between heavy and light, it’s lessened in heaviness and there are no clots now. I’m still getting cramps, though not at bad as the middle of the bleeding period. Would ibuprofen work to stop the bleeding? I’m going to be with my partner right around this time next month, so I’m hoping that I can find a solution so I won’t bleed for this long whilst with him. Or at all if possible. Typical periods only last 5 days for me, so this is worrying. It’s not as heavy as a period so i haven’t needed products, but it’s still annoying and heavy enough to be a bother. any tips besides ibuprofen? (I can’t see a doctor for the next 3 days) Brand: Micronelle 30 ED

Bleeding is a normal side effect of the pill and there’s no way to stop it.

You can take a break week and see if that helps, sometimes doctors will say to try taking ibuprofen because it has anti-inflammatory properties and has helped for some people but there’s no guaranteed way to stop it

Unfortunately other than prescription drugs there is no guaranteed way to stop bleeding. Irregular bleeding is particularly common when you’re new to the pill. If you’re on a combined pill you’re best to just take a break week and hope it stops after that.

You no longer have real natural periods and the bleeding patterns you’re used to are now irrelevant, so don’t be worried. Any bleeding whilst on the pill is a side effect of the pill, and can be anything from very light spotting to very heavy bleeding, and could potentially last anywhere from hours to multiple weeks on end. Frustratingly it’s not predictable at all.
