My ex’s friend commented on one of my stories yesterday. Would it be weird to ask how my ex is doing? We broke up due to his mental health issues and just would like to know how he is. Is that too much/weird/cringe?

I think it would be better to ask your ex directly instead of through a third party because his friend will probably tell your ex anyway and it could get weird
