I don't fully understand what you mean by taking the pill and then stopping? What pill are you taking? How many pills did you take before stopping (and why did you stop? As part of break week/placebos or you didn't want to continue taking the pill?) If you're on the combined pill, then usually there's a few days of not taking the pill which usually induces a withdrawal bleed (caused by the drop in hormones) which can take a few days to start. Otherwise you can also experience breakthrough bleeding (bleeding during active pills) which is also a side effect of the pill.

Then you're probably just bleeding as a result of hormone fluctuations(withdrawal bleed). Side effects are usually worst at the beginning as it takes time to adjust to the pill. Adjustment phase can last up to 3-6 months. You could try a different pill or contraceptive method to see if that suits you more but in my opinion 4 days isn't really enough time to give an accurate assessment. But I'm not a medical professional nor do I know what side effects you were experiencing but a lot of them subside the longer you've been on medication.

^^ Yes that’s normal and you may continue to experience side effects like irregular bleeding, cramps etc for another while. However as most people take the pill for at least 3 months before stopping, there’s not really any information out there on how long you might experience side effects after taking it for only 4 days.

Your body is confused by the rapid change in hormone levels, since birth control isn’t meant to be used the way you did.
