Hey there, So I use the Nuva ring birth control and it is currently my break week. I took it out last Tuesday and I am supposed to put a new one in this Tuesday. My boyfriend finished inside of me yesterday and I did not use any emergency contraception, however I am currently on my menstrual cycle. My app is saying I am not protected against pregnancy but google says I’m still protected during my break week. Does anybody know if could become pregnant from this?

You are protected during your break week. The app doesn’t know everything. I don’t remember taking a break week on the Nuva ring though? Are you sure you’re supposed to remove it for a whole week?

@PennyLane102 okay thank you!! And yes. The nuva ring is a vaginal insert that stays inside of you for up to three weeks and then it’s removed for one week while your body has a period and then you put a new one in after that full week of it being gone is over.

You’re always covered and protected from pregnancy if you are using you bc correctly :) yes you were fine to have condomless sex on your break week. The ring is super versatile which is something I loved about it. You can leave it in for up to 4 weeks and still have a week break and be protected. That’s 5 weeks of protection! I don’t know if any other monthly bc does that. But you can take a break and also not take a break. But that’s with most bc. :)

You can always short your break week too, but never extend past 7 days!
